Academician Qin Dahe, Academician Chen Fahu, Academician Zhang Jianyun of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Zhang Xiaoye of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the China Meteorological Administration, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Hefei Luo Yunfeng, Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Jiang Zhaoli, Editor-in-Chief of Science Press Peng Bin and others attended the meeting. Academician Qin Dahe presided over the opening ceremony, Deputy Director Bi Baoyi, Deputy Director Jiang Zhaoli, Mayor Luo Yunfeng and Editor-in-Chief Peng Bin addressed the conference. Hundreds of experts and scholars gathered together to exchange and share the latest research results, research dynamics, challenges and future trends on climate change. Promote the in-depth integration and development of disciplines in the field of climate change, and explore solutions to address climate change.

The conference venue (3) was convened by Xu Yinlong, Chief scientist of the Institute of Agricultural Environment and Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Zheng Yan, researcher of the Institute of Ecological Civilization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, focusing on the current research progress and practical case analysis of climate adaptation capacity building at home and abroad.

With the theme of "Research and Practical Exploration on Coping Strategies of Climate Change Adaptation to Natural Disasters", Professor Zhang Qiang elaborated his research results from three aspects: evolution trend of natural disasters under the background of climate change, coping strategies of natural disasters adapting to climate change, and innovative practice of natural disaster risk management. Finally, the report is summarized from the analysis of the connotation of climate change adaptation and the work that needs to be strengthened at present.

Professor Zhang Qiang introduced that the results of the report are based on the "Research and Practice of Natural disaster Response strategies under the Background of Climate change (hereinafter referred to as the" project ") ". Based on typical cases of natural disasters such as the July 20 devastating flood in Henan Province, the report explores the innovation of social organizations adapting to climate change in the context of global warming to participate in coping with emergencies. Through the establishment of cooperation with the "Red Cross System", the implementation of the "Safe Home • Lao Niu Life School" project, for Henan and other disaster-stricken areas, to carry out community-based knowledge popularization of disaster prevention and reduction and emergency response capacity building.

Improving disaster prevention and mitigation capacity is an important basis for climate change adaptation and sustainable development. In the report, Professor Zhang Qiang especially introduced the innovative practice of grassroots community disaster prevention, reduction and relief carried out by the team in the context of climate change: the five social organizations jointly promote the construction of safe communities and build community-based volunteer rescue teams. Professor Zhang also introduced that in the action of adapting to climate change, social forces, with their flexibility, skills, social mobilization and other advantages, have natural advantages in professional skills, material resources, organizational mechanisms and other aspects to participate in disaster risk management, and gradually become an indispensable part of China's disaster risk prevention and response to emergencies.

Global warming is having a broad and profound impact on the natural world and human society. Climate change is a major driver of increased vulnerability to disasters and a common challenge facing all mankind, affecting people's livelihoods and the sustainable development of societies. Adaptation to climate change can deliver a wide range of positive social, economic and environmental outcomes, thereby building resilience to the impacts of climate change, ensuring that communities are better able to cope with future challenges, exploring innovative ways to engage society in disaster risk management, and promoting climate resilience across society. At the end of the conference, Professor Zhang Qiang called for the advocacy of "the construction of climate adaptation capacity needs the innovative practice of multi-subject collaboration!"

With the theme of "New Situation, New Mission, New Contribution", the conference covers a number of topics on climate change, from scientific issues to the implementation of adaptation measures, which can promote the interdisciplinary research on climate change, standard national needs, promote scientific research to provide scientific and technological support for addressing climate change, and contribute China's wisdom and strength to promoting global climate governance.
